December 7: The Attack on Pearl Harbor
The date was December 7th, 1941. Early that morning, Japanese planes bombed the island Oahu, a Hawaiian Island where a U.S. Naval Base was situated. 2,403 died on that fateful morning, and 1,178 were left wounded. This was the first large-scale attack on U.S. soil since the Civil War. The United States would go on to declare war on Japan shortly after. This included Japan's allies, which put America in the thick of World War 2.
